Better writing through porn
Sep. 29th, 2010 07:34 pmThe first time I sat down to write an SPN fan fic [Dean/Cas] I felt so weird about typing their names out. Like typing dialogue and then typing said Dean after it was.... it made me really nervous. and really worried about how people would react to it.
I used to write ST:TNG fan fiction back in the day, but I never posted anything online and my stories were just for me, so I didn't have the same squick factor, but knowing I was writing SPN with the intention of positing it really scared me!
Now I feel pretty comfortable writing in SPN. I feel like I have a handle on the characters, of course I'm sure others would disagree, but I like them.
Now I'm trying my hand at Stargate: Atlantis fic [SGA] and to break the ice, I'm starting with porn.
yep. Porn.

So I turned to the
And now I strangely feel a little better about the other fic I'm working on. And I'm thinking about filling another prompt.
I just feel like, these characters are new to me, and I KNOW I will be out of character, and so maybe I can distract my reader with porn?
Oh, you think John Sheppard wouldn't do/say that? HEY LOOK PORN!
I figure if I do enough porn, I'll eventually get a handle on how I want to write the characters.
So yeah, better writing through porn.
There oughtta be a workshop.
