Le Progress

16582 / 53582 (30.95%)

Why the funky end count of 53582? because I am working on a story that already had 3582 words on Nov 1.

So. It's going okay! I'm working on what was going to be my [livejournal.com profile] spn_meanttobe story, but then I didn't get around to starting or finishing. It's a Dean/Cas Au. Cas is an FBI Agent, Dean is a hunter. Cas finds out about the supernatural.....

and then there will be sexy times. ;)

and then plot plot plot, character development, blah blah.

did I mention sexy times?

So, I signed up for nanowrimo this year.

It starts in, like, 36 hrs or something and I have yet to think of a plot.
and while I know I won't be flogged mercilessly for not writing 1667 words a day (or 50000 this month) I can't help but feel anxious.

I told myself that I didn't have to write all on one project. I could rotate if needs be, so that I wouldn't be... overwhelmed.

but the urge is there to just do one project and stick with it!

But.... I don't have a complete plot for the original fic I was thinking of doing.
I could always go back to my failed spn_meanttobe (Dean/Cas) and do that.
Or I could go WAY back to an original fic I've been working on since 1996 (no, you read that right, 1996). It's at 110,000 words and frankly, it lacks... cohesiveness and flow. It pretty much needs to be redone from the start.
Or I could do a sequel to Dark Shadows
Or I could do an SGA John/Rodney.

I kind of feel pulled in multiple directions. which is why I thought of rotating projects and just have the goal be the words and not the novel.

Title: Sàbhailte
Rating: PG
Pairing/Fandom:: McShep/SGA
Word Count: 3700ish
Summary: Written for [livejournal.com profile] spook_me Challenge, creature = vampire. Rodney has one goal after being turned: Keep John safe.
A/N: I couldn’t decide who to turn for my vampire prompt, John or Rodney. I have a Vampire!John story kicking around in my head but I also had an idea for Vampire!Rodney. I went with this one because it was shorter, and because [livejournal.com profile] neros_violin said she didn’t find vampire!Rodney scary. I disagreed!

Title: The Fire of Paris
Claim on [livejournal.com profile] dc_everafter : The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Genre: Romanticism, AU, Fairytale
Pairing(s): Dean/Cas
Rating: PG-13 for language.
Word Count: 16000ish
Warnings: My personal beliefs on religion are my own. No offense is meant to anyone or anything.

A/N: This takes place in a world separate and apart from ours. While the cathedral and the books Castiel reads are more historical, Dean’s attitude and language is contemporary. It’s quite anachronistic, but I imagined it as a sort of fractured fairy-tale - both familiar and somewhat strange. Forgive me for the quick "Happily Ever After Ending." I realized far too late that the story I planned would be somewhere in the vicinity of 40,000 words and I just didn’t have time to complete it, so I had to chop it all out.

Title from Double Heriodes - XVI - Paris’ letter to Helen - extract at the end.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] neros_violin for handholding and encouragement!

IDK if I should sign up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang  this year.
On the one hand, I do feel like I have another big bang story in me. In fact, I've a Dean/Cas story stuck in WIP hell that could really use a push. I also have a deaf!Dean story stuck in my head and a mental asylum thing that could work.

The thing of it is, I both loathe and need the deadline to work. Signing up for challenges ensures I GET SHIT DONE. but then, I'm always paranoid and freakish about the deadline, mentally calculating in my head how much I need to write to get my story out.

but when i dont' do that, the story doesn't get worked on consistently.

le sigh.

So I've signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo again, and I've pledged to do 400 words a day. Which I hope works out. I do better with weekly goals, frankly, but that's not an option.

so then I started thinking about what I was going to write. I have some original fic that I've been meaning to get back to but lately, I've been having WAY MORE FUN working on fanfic.

So at first, November was going to be original fic month but not anymore.

On my way to work this morning, I put classical music on which always helps me think and it came me. November will be Cliche Month!

OMG, YES. Cliche Month. I will try to work through as many cliches as possible. Given my propensity to write longer fic, I doubt I'll make it through many but I will give it my best.

And I think I'll work in SPN and SGA.

So far, my list of cliches to write is:

1. Aliens Make them Do it [AMTDI] for SGA and/or Sex Pollen for SPN
2. Amnesia
3. Mpreg
4. Genderswap
5. Doppleganger
6. Sudden Telepathy

And I'll prolly pull from my [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo and or[livejournal.com profile] schmoop_bingo cards and see if I can cross off two things with one story.

So yeah, November is cliche month!
6.

I'm signed up again for this year. Last year I'd been out of the writing habit for a long long time, and the [livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo got me back in the habit of writing every day. I've found over the last year that when I write every day, I stick to it but as soon as I miss a day, it all goes to shit.

So now, I just have to line up some projects for November so that I have something to work on!

I think I'll work on some original fic too as I'd really like to get back to my original characters. I miss them. sigh.

This year's goal is 400 words a day. so that will be 12000 words for all of November!

Title: Small Packages
Rating: PG
Word Count: 5100ish - it was the little fic that just wouldn't end!
Summary: written for my [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo card for the deaged(mental) square.
A/N: Sequel to Eat Me, Drink Me, where Dean is deaged due to [insert plot contrivance here]. I must confess, this turned into a story more about Sam than Dean and I really didn't see it coming. It kind of got away from me and I'm just happy I finished it.

Title: Magnetic Poetry
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zoemathemata
Rating: PG
Spoilers: None
Pairing Sam/Dean
Word Count: 514
Summary: Dean and Sam leaving magnetic poetry for one another
A/N:[livejournal.com profile] schmoop_bingo ! This is for my tag "Magnetic Poetry". I was going to buy a kit to do this and take pictures but then I found the website where you can make your own poetry for free. So I've included Sam and Dean's offerings. I just felt like the words aren't the same when you don't get to see them in the little tiles. Isn't there something like, "the Medium is the message"? IDK, I just know I had to include them.
